Summer truck care

As we all know, spring preludes the heat of summer. A few tips to help maintain your class 8 diesel truck before and during the summer’s hottest months:

  • Test your A/C. Make sure all positions work, and that the air flow is good. Also make sure its not blowing hot air. If it is, it could be that your engine is equipped with coolant shut off valves and they need to be turned on.
  • Have your radiator cleaned. I always suggest that customers have their radiators blown out then washed out so that air can pass through properly and cool the coolant. It makes a huge difference, and can keep overheating issues at bay as well.
  • Replace your cabin air filter. This collects dust and dirt, and when restricted can cause low air flow and freezing up of your evaporator core.Taking a few moments to check these things can save you time and money when summer arrives. Also, if you find you’re having an issue with any of these things, give us a call to schedule an appointment. Freon usually skyrockets in price during the time you need it the most, so preventative repairs beforehand can save you money in the long haul.
